The San Ramon Library designed by ATI, was published in the November issue of the Library Journal Top Trends in Architecture | Year in Architecture 2017.
Among growing trends found in modern libraries such as incorporating academics and fun, incentivizing alternative transportation, flex spaces with kitchens, and maker spaces that include state of the art technology, the San Ramon library was acknowledged for providing a space that supports a greater connectivity to various local facilities. This in turn is helping promote civic engagement, foster new relationships, and strengthen the overall “neighborly” vibe of the San Ramon community.
The library is nestled within a hub of activity, located between the new City Hall and the Marketplace shopping complex with the library as a key link between them. The expansion and remodel of the library was a combined effort, through extensive input and survey feedback from its patrons, user groups, staff, and community-at-large. With this inclusive process ATI delivered a library design that caters to the various growing needs of the community.
Just a few of San Ramon Library’s many features include a teen area, jazz listening rooms, a tech center, private study rooms, and the space and resources to host events tailored to children and the young at heart.
