San Ramon, CA – Congratulations to the City of San Ramon and Costa Costa County Library on the grand re-opening of their newly renovated San Ramon Library on the 28th anniversary of the library’s original opening day! Hundreds of people gathered around the building on Saturday, April 15th at 10:00 AM , waiting to catch a first glimpse of the $6.5 million renovation and expansion that was built for the tech-savvy 21st Century community. The wonderful new facility opened with fanfare and plenty of smiles.
Every area of the library over the weekend was bustling with people of all ages, excitedly testing out new technology, looking at new books, listening to music and storytellers, enjoying special art displays; and of course, admiring the transformed interior architecture.
ATI was hired by the City of San Ramon to help facilitate the development of a Building Program to expand and remodel the San Ramon Library. The program’s goals were to maintain natural light, improve stack and task lighting, offer ample quiet space and study rooms, flexible seating, permanent and temporary public art displays, and state-of-the-art technology to facilitate research, individual study, check-out/returns, and access to public information. All was successfully implemented in the final design of the new library with a 3,500 SF expansion of the second floor within the envelope of the existing building.
Additionally, new entrance plazas encouraging pedestrian and bicycle access, improved site lighting, visual and physical interconnectivity with the new City Hall complex and surrounding Market Place commercial/retail neighbors have remade the San Ramon Library into a welcoming and inviting destination place and hub for community activities.
The San Ramon Library is located at 100 Montgomery St, San Ramon, CA 94583.
