Inside Sysco Riverside: A Photo Tour

Riverside, CA – Welcome to Sysco Riverside’s $110-million, 500,000-square-foot facility, one of the largest foodservice plants in the southern California region.

This state-of-the-art facility is located centrally across from March Air Force Base off the 215 freeway in Riverside County. It serves the High Desert and mountain communities, the Coachella Valley, Inland Southern California and southern Orange County.

The facilities main building has 56,000 sf of two-story office space. Its light and airy interior space also includes conference rooms, a commercial grade kitchen, and food presentation rooms.

The facilities large distribution center combines 185,000 square feet of dry warehouse with 240,000 square feet of cold storage. The site also includes 61 loading docks for trucks to receive products. The vehicle maintenance facility even includes an area for trucks to get washed and fuel up before heading back out.

The warehouse lodges more than 12,000 individual and specialty items and 750,000 cases of product for distribution to restaurants, hospitals, schools and other commercial customers.

The facility itself was designed with environmental stewardship in mind, utilizing one-megawatt solar system that generates approximately half of the site’s electric needs. LED lights with sensors were also used throughout the facility, which provide an approximate 40 percent energy savings. Additionally, recycled water is utilized for irrigation throughout the facility and many of Sysco Riverside’s tractor fleet runs on Liquefied Natural Gas, emitting zero emissions.

This new facility has created over 700+ permanent jobs for the Riverside community including those in management, sales, customer service, administrative, credit analysts, buyers, chefs, culinary associates, drivers, mechanics and warehouse workers. Additionally, many of the construction materials and labor for the building came from the local area including masonry, concrete, wall coverings, insulation, air-control system, fencing and steel contractors.
