Antioch USD Solar Power System Dedication

On Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 Antioch USD celebrated the completion of 5.2 Megawatt Solar Power Systems at 20 campuses.  Tim Forrester, Associate Superintendent-Business Operations, several other Antioch USD representatives, SunPower Corporation, Mark Bello, Project Architect of ATI, and Donna Foster, Construction Administrator of ATI, attended the Dedication Ceremony.

SunPower Corporation hired ATI Architects and Engineers for Architecture Consulting services.  As a consulting architect, ATI participated in design and engineering reviews, prepared the overall architectural site plans, and coordinated the DSA approval.  The PV systems, including rooftop solar arrays and solar shade structures, are primarily placed in school parking lots to take advantage of underutilized space and provide shade.  Making sure the new PV’s accommodate existing parking, traffic circulation, and existing accessibility pathways were of high importance to the District.

The District estimates that the solar power systems will save them over $39 million in the next 30 years.  The savings will be used for programs that will enhance the educational experience.

The PVs are now installed at the following schools:
